Airasia celebrates inaugural flight from Colombo to Bangkok

Airasia marked another foray into South Asia by offering direct services between Colombo in Sri Lanka and Thailand’s capital city of Bangkok.

This 4-time weekly flight service commenced operation on 14 December 2018 with a celebratory event to officially welcome the inaugural flight at Bandaranaike International Airport, Katunayake.

Operated by Thai Airasia (flight code FD), this direct route to Bangkok in Thailand is the airline group’s second connection from Colombo’s Bandaranaike International Airport which includes direct route to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (flight code AK). Thai Airasia manages a fleet of 61 Airbus A320-200 and A320neo aircraft with a configuration of 180 seats and 186 seats respectively.

The airline provides promotional offers exclusively for Airasia BIG Loyalty members from as low as Rs.13,999.

Thai Airasia operates the widest network in domestic Thailand and offers several international connections to other prominent cities in Asia. Travellers from Sri Lanka who wish to explore beyond Bangkok can enjoy a convenient Fly-thru service with just a single-time baggage check-in from Colombo and make a brief transit in Bangkok to continue seamlessly to other destinations in Thailand and beyond. Sri Lankan travelers can take advantage of the convenient flight schedule that gives them more time to spend abroad by arriving in Bangkok in the early morning and depart in the evening.

Thailand located in the center of Southeast Asia is a vibrant destination that is home to rich cultures and splendid religious sites, not to mention ubiquitous Thai street foods and shopping complexes that will fascinate the visitors from start to finish. Sri Lankan travellers can leverage Airasia’s low fares and gain greater savings for extended visits to Thailand’s crystal-clear beaches in Phuket and Krabi, or for authentic experiences of Thai cuisine and worldclass hospitality.

Thai Airasia offers convenient Flythru transit opportunities to connect to cities in Thailand such as Chiang Mai, Phuket, and Krabi; and to other Asian cities such as Singapore, Bali in Indonesia and Seoul in South Korea.
