Singapore’s Chang Hua to develop first five-star hotel in Maldives capital

Singapore’s Chang Hua Construction has announced plans to develop the first five-star hotel in Maldives capital Male.

Details of the project have not yet been made public, but the 228-room hotel will be built on the western coast of the city, facing the newly developed Rasfannu artificial beach.

The hotel is part of the Rasfannu Mixed Use Development Project, which was inaugurated last week by President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.

Undertaken by Chang Hua, the project involves construction of four towers of 25-28 storeys, consisting of 533 residential bedrooms and 228 hotel rooms as well as retail stores.

Chang Hua is also developing a resort in South Ari Atoll. Set to open in 2019, the resort will be managed by global hotel giant Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group as Radisson Blu Resort Maldives.

The new five-star hotel will join the few tourist hotels in the capital city, including Hotel Jen, Champa Centra Hotel, Maagiri Hotel and the historic Nasandhura Palace Hotel, which is currently being reconstructed.

Chang Hua is an established Singaporean real estate company with its construction arm, Chang Hua Construction being a leading contractor specialising in design and build. Its vast portfolio includes various kinds of building works such as private houses, government housings, industrial buildings, hotels, offices, and private high-rise condominium.
