Santani, an intelligently designed brand-new boutique resort nestled in the mountains of Sri Lanka is proud to be the first wellness resort and destination spa in the island.
The resort is located in a secluded but easily accessible village named Werapitiya, a one hour drive from Kandy. It is built on a former tea estate spanning 48 acres with over 300 meters of river front providing ample space for you to hike, mountain bike, etc.
The word San-ta-ni is a Sanskrit derivative describing harmony, the forming of an uninterrupted line, continuing and music. It is the ideal description for the setting of Santani – relaxation, simplicity and serenity in nature.
It is a honour to announce that we have received a number of global accolades in the last few months.Travel + Leisure, one of the leading travel publications in the world, listed us on their prestigious “IT List” and selected Santani as one of the top 40 hotels in the world. Only 8 hotels from Asia were selected for this list, and Santani was the only Sri Lankan property to be featured. In addition, Travel + Leisure also featured Santani as one of the top destination Spas in the world.

Accommodation at Santani can be reserved with OR without Wellness Treatments, according to your requirments.

Guests travelling on leisure ( or unable to commit to a package) can reserve accommodation without treatments. They can select treatments from the spa menu, if they decide to have glimpse of wellness.
Rooms at Santani can be reserved on a fully inclusive meal plan (excluding liquor); rates include:
3 Gourmet meals (Breakfast, lunch & dinner), non-alcoholic beverages, daily morning and evening yoga and access to spa facilities such as sauna, steam, salt bath etc.
Laundry is included for 3 nights stay and beyond.

Each stay at Santani is personalized based on a wellness assessment and a combination of the above packages/treatments will form the basis of an individual package.
The facilities at Santani include:
• 16 stand-alone single bedroom units with balconies – approximately 500 sqft each.
• 2 double bedroom suites with a living area

• Sri Lanka’s largest spa with over 6000 square feet and full hydrotherapy facilities including thermal salt baths

• Recreational facilities within the site include multiple hiking trails, natural swimming pools in the river, mountain biking, meditation facilities etc.
The rooms are inspired by ancient meditation chambers that were covered on 3 sides and opens out only in one direction providing a framed view of the distance and limiting artificial distractions from any other side. The whole resort minimizes clutter and therein the external stimuli and helps relax the mind, which is the core offering of our property.
On the eco front, we have designed it in such a way that we do not use air conditioning or heating thus reducing our energy consumption by about 70% compared to standard hotels. We have built most of our building on stilts allowing for natural thermal flows to cool the rooms and also touch the earth least. the whole spa is built underground providing natural cooling. Almost 80% of the wood used for both structural elements and furniture is recycled. These are some of the few differentiators and we can discuss further on the “intelligent design” that we have adopted at Santani.
We do not have TVs in our rooms; free wifi is provided in rooms on request. Santani’s concept has always attracted travelers seeking restful and relaxing holidays in an undisturbed atmosphere with maximum privacy. All our guests appreciate the peace and harmony at Santani and recognize the resort as the perfect setting in which to rejuvenate. All our rooms are designed with king size beds (or twin beds), which are ideally suited to accommodate 2 adults.
The mountain top location and the open architecture do not provide safety for children in all areas of the hotel premises and inside the room. Taking into consideration the concept of the hotel and safety for children, we are compelled to discourage children below 12 years of age. Children over 12 years of age will be allowed, and should be accommodated in a separate room as extra beds cannot be accommodated in rooms.
